Marcus Brandon is a lifelong resident of Guilford County who, while growing up in a family entrenched in the civil rights movement, learned the value of public service at an early age. Ever since he could walk he was out working to better his community, passing out fliers, knocking on doors, and organizing with his family to continue the movement of equal opportunity and equal access.
Marcus attended both Southern Guilford High School and North Carolina A&T in Greensboro. At these institutions Marcus honed the skills learned as youngster into the leadership abilities necessary to create positive change for his community. Both while in both High School and in College Marcus served as a leader in various organizations, working with students of all backgrounds to better their school and community.

Marcus left Greensboro for a brief period where he served the progressive movement at the national level. Marcus held a position of National Account Executive at NGP Software the top Democratic campaign software firm in the country, and from there went on to build a successful career In Democratic politics. During that tenure Marcus had the opportunity to plan and direct national fundraising events for Jack Carter, featuring his father, former President Jimmy Carter, and fundraisers and rallies with former President Bill Clinton, former Vice-President Al Gore, Rev. Jesse Jackson, former Virginia Governor Mark Warner. Marcus recently served as National Finance Director for Presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich during the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary.
Marcus recognizes the need for political candidates and progressive organizations to have access to high quality, affordable counsel and advice, that's why he founded KMB Consulting. This firm enables progressive campaigns and organizations to raise money, run new media programs, and be effective communicators in an increasingly complex political landscape. His signature client is the Young People’s Project an organization that uses literacy to shape minds and futures and gives students the space to advocate on their own behalf to make change in their schools and communities. The firm continues to be involved with the Youth Empowerment Movement, Transporation Equity, Civil Rights and Social Justice Issues.
Marcus is now pursuing his long held passion for service to his community by running to be the state representative for North Carolina House District 60. "My family and friends have taught me a lot about faith. I believe in positive change no matter how difficult or hard. Whether we can see it or not. It's about understanding that people have the ultimate power and it's the government’s role to create an environment of equal opportunity and equal access. That is what I intend to do if elected to the North Carolina House" – Marcus Brandon
