Brandon, Again!

Greensboro News and Record Endorses Rep. Marcus Brandon

Marcus Brandon stood out as a freshman Democrat in the NC House and deserves a second term. Marcus Brandon didn’t go to Raleigh last year and disappear.    He could have. As a Democrat newly elected to his first term in the state House of Representatives, he found himself at the bottom of the pecking order: a freshman member of the party suddenly cast out of power.    He was also young and entering his first public office at any level of government.    But Brandon, 37, didn’t fade into the woodwork. He stood out for his energy, creativity and, sometimes, for crossing party lines to get results.

Jones who Brandon outsted two years ago by a wide margin is fiercely critical of Brandon’s performance, but his attacks are unfounded, ill-informed or hypocritical.

Rep. Brandon not easy to pin down politically

Mark Binker of the Greensboro News and Record wrote an article about me being an independent thinker in the NC House.  First, I want to say that I am a proud democrat and have been my entire life. The conservative group Civitas gave me an "F" and I am ok with that. However I am a firm believer in working with people where they are and having a starting point from where we agree whether than focusing on things where we disagree.

I make no apologies for making people nervous. The very fact that people  have to stop by my office to see where I am on a bill, gives me the opportunity to tell the stories of my district, and they can explain to me how this issue can effect my district. I believe that is effective representation of the people, and I believe this is what the people elected me to do.
